Japanese Dogneck hammer for blacksmithing. I like this hammer very much but it does not get used. Hand forged by blacksmith. The striking face has a slight convexity to it. Hammer head profile is octagonal on the back end and transitions to round on the front. The oxide on this hammer head is rich with history. This is an old tool. More than 60 years old. The handle is made from gumi wood. It is patinaed in a very beautiful way. The dark void in the middle of the handle is where a knot had fallen out. The handle is still very structurally sound.
