Record no 518 1/2 Chipping vice with 8 1/2″ jaws opening to 12″. These need little introduction, this is the heaviest duty and heaviest bench vice record ever made, at over 250lbs this needs a serious bench to mount to. There’s nothing really available anymore that compares with these, although difficult to scale, it measures around 14″ off the bench top an over 33″ long when closed. When new back in the 50’s these were, unsurprisingly, the most expensive vices available by a very long way. It has been used for its intended purpose so there is the normal marks around the jaws and a slight kink in the bar. It has the original jaws fitted and thankfully hasn’t had the back slider beaten to death like many. It’s operating smoothly and ready for the biggest of industry.
