Welcome to Vintage Tools Melbourne. Vintage tool – plane #213. Up for sale is a gorgeous & scarce vintage BULLNOSE PLANE by Edward Preston of Birmingham England, an absolute design classic. Preston went out of business in the 1930s Great Depression & their tools are highly sought after by collectors today. The ruler in the photos is for measurements only, not for sale. This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear & tear consistent with age & use, the Preston blade & Rosewood wedge are marked with 2 x stripes from the factory fitting, decal on the nose, some light spots of rust & pitting, a small dent on the RH side, some wear to the mouth, some small chips off the back of the wedge, a gorgeous little bullnose rebate plane from a famous maker. Vintage tool – plane #209. Up for sale is a gorgeous & scarce vintage BULLNOSE PLANE by Edward Preston of Birmingham England, an absolute design classic. Preston went out of business in the 1930s Great Depression & their tools are highly sought after by collectors today. The ruler in the photos is for measurements only, not for sale. This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear & tear consistent with age & use, stamped on the rear, some tidy stamped owners marks, decal on the nose, some extremely light flyspeck spots of rust & small dents to the heel, it looks like a filled casting hole to the nose- very very hard to see & well done, a nice tight mouth & reasonably sharp edges to the sole, a gorgeous little bullnose rebate plane from a famous maker. Edward Preston (1397) Brass Router Plane – Unfinished Casting – As Photo’s. Feint EP mark on top corner, has number 534243 in casting. Looks to be original preston but unfinished. No handles or anything else with it, just the casting and 2 cutters. Unsure why this has been unfinished and assuming it is an original quite a rare item. 4 1/8″ x 2 1/8″ main body casting. Vintage hand tools – hand plane #216. Up for sale is fantastic & scarce Genuine PRESTON Patented Cast Iron & Hardwood, closed handle infill PLANE. An unusual plane, it has a removable cast iron screw cap & the patent number 656 struck on the toe of the plane, plus also on the wood under the blade. Weight – 1.4kg. This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use, some scratches to the sole & light pitting to the sides & dent on the toe, a couple of small chips to the casting at the very end of the sole by the handle, a lovely & scarce plane in as found condition. Preston made arguably some of the most beautiful tools ever in mass production & this heavy smoothing plane is no exception. Weight – 2.3kg. This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use, wear to the sole & sides, the plating to the screws on the body are oxidised, some pits to the sides of the base, most likely a replacement Preston tapered iron in the plane at present.
