This is an antique primitive tool made in the USA in 1800’s. Built to last obviously, nice piece to own and keep alive. Has the hardware and the drill storage in base. Joseph Strickler along with his brother Reuben took up his roots and moved to Columbiana, Ohio in the late 1830’s. In 1845 he built a small machine shop on Main Street a few doors from town square. The business for Joseph and Reuben. Was often slow and they would resort to taking their goods by wagon through the countryside to sell them. Reuben then invented a machine called the Strickler Boring Machine. The machine was so far ahead of its time that no improvements were made to it and it remained the most commonly used drill until it was replaced by the electric drill press.
