RARE 1880s Woodrough & McPharlin Panther Head Hand Saw, the Etch Reads (London Spring 12 Extra Refined). I Call this the Holy Grail of Hand saws because every Saw guy would love to have one. They are hard to find. I have owned at least six in my life time that i remember and this the best example of this saw i have seen so i saved it for the last one of mine to sell. He told me later it was the first Panther Head Panel saw made and would challenge anyone to prove other wise. 5 PPI Rip Saw. The plate is straight, on the Dark side, no pitting to mention, a few darker spots. That was about 12 years ago by a hand saw sharpener that i happened to know. I think he did a over all great job on this saw. Nice Readable Etch with a owners Stamp just above and to the right of the Etch. That owner was proud of this saw, as any one would be of this saw. This saw is much better than the Photos. Still has its Nib. Part of the factory PPi stamp at the heel. The plate is 28″ long 2 3/8″ at the toe 7 1/2 at the heel. 5 PPI at the heel and graduates to 6 PPI at the Toe. A very nice example of this 130 to 140 year old Rare Panther Head Saw. The Handle and three saw nuts which includes the Medallion are original on this saw plate. One saw nut is a replacement has the larger shank, see the Photos. A Very Nice Apple handle with full horns, has the same owners Tattoo on the Handle as the plate, no repairs, very few chips, still has most of the original finish, see Photos. I will be listing more of the saws i still have as time permits. Its time for me to pass them all on to some one else. If this one doesn’t sell it won’t hurt my feelings to much. If it doesn’t , i won’t be listing this one agin. This is a once in a life time chance for this Saw. Find another one like it in this condition for sale. Thank You for taking a look.
