Disston D8 26 6 point Rip cut hand saw. This one’s another real beauty. It took barely any effort to restore it to it’s former glory. It’s a “PHILA” era saw which dates it from between 1917 and 1928. Back when Disston were making saws to the best of their ability rather than down to a price. This one has had a fairly easy life by the look of it. Most of its handsome taper ground, skew-backed saw plate remains and is in near perfect conditionn, it’s etch is still clear and there are no kinks. There is a slight bow and the toothline is slightly breasted, It cuts perfectly and requires minimal set. The 6 point per inch ripping tooth pattern. Is perfect for resizing boards up to 3 inches thick and cuts quickly and easily, The taper grinding minimising the chances of the saw binding in the cut. The handle on this saw was in such good condition all I had to do was give it a quick wipe over with some linseed oil and it came back to looking like new. Whether you’re after a saw to use or to addd to a collection this one is a winner.
